Questions & Learning
In the realm of the classroom, questions are asked for all kinds of reasons. If we stop and think about the questions we are asking, and they all have a place, how many are actually stretching our students: challenging assumptions, inspiring wonder, seeking alternate perspectives, creating opportunities for problem solving or engaging students to reflect on their learning and on themselves as learners? What are the questions that open wide the doors to rich learning, and what are the questions that slam the doors shut? In this Learning Space we embark on some personal research, reflect on and evaluate the questions we ask, and identify ways to expand the use of questions in shaping thinking and learning.
